HOUSE BILL NO. 1934 AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE (Proposed by the House Committee for Courts of Justice on February 4, 2011) (Patrons Prior to Substitute--Delegates Miller, J.H. and Albo [HB 1420]) A BILL to establish the responsibility of the Superintendent of State Police to enter into an agreement with Immigration and Customs Enforcement concerning the enforcement of immigration laws.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  § 1. That the Superintendent of State Police or his designee shall on behalf of the Commonwealth seek to enter into a memorandum of agreement with the United States Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, as authorized under 8 U.S.C. § 1357(g), to permit the State Police to perform federal immigration law-enforcement functions in the Commonwealth.
