SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Removal of mercury switches from scrap and recycled vehicles. Requires manufactures to submit mercury minimization plans to the Department of Environmental Quality that include information on mercury switch removal from motor vehicles. Vehicle manufacturers are required to pay specified costs associated with mercury switch removal. Recyclers must remove all switches before transferring ownership of a vehicle to a scrap processing facility and within 180 days after the receipt of a vehicle.
