SB 309 Voter changes of address; retention of copies by general registrar.

SUMMARY AS ENACTED WITH GOVERNOR'S RECOMMENDATION:

Voter registration applications; retention of information on applicant's last previous residence. Provides that the general registrar for the locality where a voter currently resides shall retain the portion of the application that shows the applicant's last previous place of registration, or a copy thereof, if the voter formerly resided in another state.  The general registrar shall send the original or a copy to the appropriate registration official of the other state where the applicant formerly resided.

Voter registration applications; retention of information on applicant's last previous residence. Provides that the general registrar for the locality where a voter currently resides shall retain a copy of the portion of the application that shows the applicant's last previous place of registration.  The general registrar shall send the original portion to the appropriate registration official of another state if the applicant formerly resided in another state.

SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Retention of copies of voter changes of address. Provides that a general registrar for the locality where a voter formerly resided shall retain copies of documentation, received as part of a registration application or otherwise, and shall be sent copies of such documents if they were originally provided to a different registrar indicating that the voter's residence has changed.
