SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:
Elections; emergency procedures. Requires a local electoral board to give notice, including notice to all candidates on the ballot if an emergency makes a polling place unusable or inaccessible and an alternate polling place is provided. The provision of the alternative polling place is subject to the prior approval of the State Board. The bill adds a definition of "emergency."
SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Elections; emergency procedures. Requires a local electoral board to convene a public meeting with at least seven days’ notice if an emergency makes a polling place unusable or inaccessible. After receiving any public comment, the electoral board shall propose an alternative polling place, subject to the prior approval of the State Board. The State Board shall review the proposal by the local electoral board and determine whether the stated emergency necessitates the change in polling place.
