WHEREAS, Maureen F. Ribble of Mount Vernon is commended for winning the 2009 Ms. Virginia Senior America title; and

WHEREAS, a gracious and accomplished woman, Maureen Ribble exemplifies the dignity, maturity, and inner beauty of senior American women that the Ms. Virginia Senior America competition recognizes; and

WHEREAS, a talented singer and performer, Maureen Ribble has pursued and enjoyed many artistic and creative endeavors throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, trained in classical ballet, jazz, tap, voice, and acting, Maureen Ribble has performed in community events and USO shows, and made it to the Ted Mack Amateur Hour in New York; and

WHEREAS, Maureen Ribble spent 25 years as a soloist for the Gridiron Club, produced and acted in her own cabaret act, “Romance of Broadway,” and taught ballet, tap, and jazz for 35 years; and

WHEREAS, Maureen Ribble, through the National Theatre in Washington, D.C., performs in the Community Vaudeville program, where she shares her one-woman show, “Music of the Greatest Generation,” with seniors at community and retirement centers and nursing facilities; and

WHEREAS, Maureen Ribble also volunteers as a tour guide at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts; she was selected in 2009 as the cochair in charge of the volunteers for the Kennedy Center’s awards celebration night for lifetime achievement awards in the performing arts; and

WHEREAS, in her free time, Maureen Ribble enjoys spending time with the love of her life, Johnny, her husband of 45 years; their two children; and their four grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Maureen Ribble serves as an outstanding role model for other senior American women as she continues to live an active, vibrant life and uses her talents in the service of others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend Maureen F. Ribble on her selection as the 2009 Ms. Virginia Senior America; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Maureen F. Ribble as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and admiration for her lifetime of accomplishments.
