10104351DWHEREAS, Robert J. Frank, M.D., a retired surgeon and successful real estate developer from Newport News, died on December 24, 2009; and
WHEREAS, a native of Newport News, Robert Frank was born to Louis and Belle Shapiro Frank, and was one of two siblings; and
WHEREAS, Robert Frank married the love of his life, Romayne Leader Frank; they enjoyed 54 years of marriage and raised a wonderful family together; and
WHEREAS, a dedicated and hardworking student, Robert Frank attended the University of Virginia and earned two degrees; and
WHEREAS, Robert Frank completed his internship in Boston and finished his surgical residency on Long Island before returning to Newport News with his family to practice; and
WHEREAS, for more than 45 years, Dr. Frank improved the lives of thousands of patients throughout Hampton Roads with his knowledge and expertise; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Frank also generously shared his talents and time through association with various professional organizations throughout his career; and
WHEREAS, later in life, Dr. Frank partnered with his wife, his children, and his friends to found R&R Construction, a thriving real estate development business; and
WHEREAS, a diligent and hardworking businessman, Dr. Frank led the firm as it constructed dozens of buildings from Oyster Point to J. Clyde Morris Boulevard and in Hampton, James City County, and Isle of Wight County; and
WHEREAS, Robert Frank will be fondly remembered for his kind and generous nature and sorely missed by his four children, Jonathan Frank and his wife, Jan; Madeline Berger and her husband, Allan; Steven Frank; and Deborah Frank; his seven beloved grandchildren; and his numerous friends and admirers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the passing of a skilled and dedicated surgeon, enterprising businessman, and outstanding Virginian, Robert J. Frank, M.D.; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Robert J. Frank, M.D., as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
