Commending Jermon Terrell Bushrod.

WHEREAS, Jermon Terrell Bushrod is recognized for his outstanding accomplishments in the National Football League as a starter for the Super Bowl XLIV Champions New Orleans Saints and for his outstanding representation of Virginia and his community of King George County; and

WHEREAS, Jermon Bushrod was raised in King George County, the son of Jerry and Brenda Bushrod; he graduated with honors in 2002 from King George High School and graduated in 2006 from Towson University with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management; and

WHEREAS, at King George High, Jermon Bushrod was a standout in football, baseball, and basketball, and earned honorable mention all-state selection at offensive tackle; and

WHEREAS, Jermon Bushrod was a four-year starter at Towson and was voted All-Atlantic 10 selection at the left tackle position in 2006; he excelled in both run-blocking and pass protection and earned 3rd team all-league honors as a junior and recorded nine blocks resulting in touchdowns; and

WHEREAS, Jermon Bushrod began his career with the National Football League in July of 2007 as an offensive lineman; during his first two years he served as a reserve behind a veteran offensive line and worked hard to learn the position and earn the starting offensive left tackle position; and

WHEREAS, an excellent role model for the youth of the community, Jermon Bushrod has worked as a substitute teacher and performed volunteer community service projects, including those sponsored by the NAACP; and

WHEREAS, with his continuing efforts to give back to his community, Jermon Bushrod has participated in numerous parks and recreation events for the youth of the County as well as visiting the local schools, nursing home, and U.S. Navy base to show his appreciation for the support given by his community; and

WHEREAS, Jermon Bushrod has become a hero to the youth of King George County, Virginia, and an inspiration to people of all ages, demonstrating that goals and dreams can be accomplished if you stay focused, work hard, and believe in yourself; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Jermon Terrell Bushrod be commended and congratulated on his outstanding service to the community of King George County, Virginia, to young people, his family, and the National Football League; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jermon Terrell Bushrod as an expression of the House of Delegates' appreciation for his leadership and awesome accomplishments.
