2010 SESSION
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Colonel Ronald C. Ball retired on December 31, 2009, after more than 38 years of outstanding service as a law-enforcement officer and leader for the City of Danville; and
WHEREAS, devoted to the safety and well-being of his fellow citizens, Ronald “Ron” C. Ball joined the Danville Police Department on June 14, 1971; and
WHEREAS, a highly trained law-enforcement officer, Ron Ball worked his way up through the ranks, continuously adding to his knowledge and experience, and earned promotions to captain in April 1998 and lieutenant colonel in December 2007; and
WHEREAS, holding an associate’s degree in police science, Lt. Col. Ball is a qualified analyst and fingerprint examiner; he completed thermal sight weapons training and other advanced police certifications; and
WHEREAS, serving over 20 years with the Danville Police Department, Lt. Col. Ball spent the last seven years with the police department promoting law enforcement as the records and communication supervisor and the spokesperson for the police in the media; and
WHEREAS, Lt. Col. Ball received many awards and accolades over the years for his many contributions to his profession and to his community; and
WHEREAS, in March 1992, Lt. Col. Ball retired from the Danville Police Department, and on April 1, 1992, joined the Danville Sheriff's Office, where he has continued his dedicated public service as a valuable team member and excellent law-enforcement officer; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate Ronald C. Ball on his 38 years of outstanding service as a law-enforcement officer for the Danville community; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Ronald C. Ball as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for his many achievements and best wishes for a happy and rewarding retirement.
