WHEREAS, Judith Childress, CRB, GRI, of Martinsville, was honored as 2009 Realtor of the Year at the annual convention of the Virginia Association of Realtors (VAR) in Hot Springs in September 2009; and
WHEREAS, the VAR's highest honor, the Realtor of the Year award has been presented annually since 1955; and
WHEREAS, the Realtor of the Year award recognizes faithfulness to the principles of organized real estate, the law, and the Realtor Code of Ethics; efforts to encourage good real estate practice and to inform the public about the real estate profession; and participation in civic activities and local, state, and national Realtor organizations; and
WHEREAS, a knowledgeable professional and a role model for other realtors throughout the Commonwealth, Judith Childress is a hardworking and admired realtor with Childress and Associates in Martinsville and holds both the CRB, Certified Residential Broker, and GRI, Graduate Realtor Institute, designations; and
WHEREAS, over the years, Judith Childress has served as a member of the board of directors of the Martinsville, Henry and Patrick Counties Association of Realtors (MHPCAR); as the chair of the education committee and a member of the Virginia Real Estate Board; as a member of the Virginia Managers Council, Property Managers Advisory Council, Chamber of Commerce, Jaycettes, Habitat for Humanity, and Citizens Against Family Violence; and as a VAR Life Member; and
WHEREAS, a leader in the real estate industry, Judith Childress has worked with state and national lawmakers on issues important to her clients and her fellow realtors; and
WHEREAS, Judith Childress has received many awards and accolades for her many contributions to her profession and to her community, such as MHPCAR Realtor of the Year and Virginia Property Manager of the Year; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate Judith Childress as 2009 Realtor of the Year by the Virginia Association of Realtors; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Judith Childress as an expression of the General Assembly's appreciation of her many accomplishments and best wishes for continued success.
