2010 SESSION
WHEREAS, Corporal Ronald B. McCormick, Jr., of the Danville Police Department, is the recipient of an award of appreciation from the Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, widely known as MADD; and
WHEREAS, dedicated to helping make Danville’s streets safer by reducing the number of drunk drivers on the roads, Corporal Ronald B. "Mac" McCormick, Jr., made 19 arrests in 2008 of persons driving under the influence of alcohol, commonly known as DUI; and
WHEREAS, during his 15-year career as a law-enforcement officer, Corporal Mac McCormick has made 250 DUI arrests, a record high total for the Danville Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Corporal Mac McCormick is known as "the DUI Guy" and "the DUI King” by his peers, and he has inspired other officers to help save lives by raising awareness of the dangers of drinking and driving and to be steadfast in enforcing DUI laws; and
WHEREAS, in addition to being a fine policeman, Mac McCormick is a devoted husband to his wife, Stacey, and a doting father to his two sons, Caleb and Joshua; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate Corporal Ronald B. McCormick, Jr., as the recipient of an award of appreciation from the Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Corporal Ronald B. McCormick, Jr., as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for his dedication to the enforcement of Virginia’s DUI laws.
