HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 457
Commending the Carlisle School field hockey team.

WHEREAS, the 2009 Carlisle School field hockey team triumphed again in the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II state championship; and

WHEREAS, the talented Lady Chiefs shut out Walsingham Academy 3 - 0 in the state semifinals to advance to the championship game; and

WHEREAS, led by Jennifer Hall, who had 18 saves, and Sallie Rives Seiy, who had two unassisted goals, the Carlisle School field hockey team then defeated Covenant School 2 - 1 to take home the state title; and

WHEREAS, goalkeeper Jennifer Hall, fullback Allison Miller, and MVP center midfielder Sallie Rives Seiy all earned first-team all-tournament honors and Sallie Rives Seiy was named the state player of the year, while the entire team worked hard throughout the season and tournament; and

WHEREAS, the state championship win marked the end of an undefeated season and the Lady Chiefs’ second state title; the team was also the 2007, 2008, and 2009 Blue Ridge Conference champions; and

WHEREAS, the triumphant 2009 season of the Carlisle School field hockey team is a tribute to the skill and perseverance of the athletes, the leadership of Head Coach Meade Seiy, and the support of the students and faculty of the Carlisle School; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend the Carlisle School Lady Chiefs on their Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Head Coach Meade Seiy as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations on the championship performance of the Carlisle School field hockey team.
