2010 SESSION
WHEREAS, Bruce Lemmert will retire as the Virginia Game Warden for Loudoun County in 2010 after 21 years of outstanding service; and
WHEREAS, Bruce Lemmert became the Virginia Game Warden for Loudoun County in 1989 after having served as Director of Parks and Recreation and Assistant County Administrator for Franklin County; and
WHEREAS, Bruce Lemmert was one of the first officers in Virginia to use DNA analysis to convict an illegal hunter and the first to use a total electronic station to bring a wildlife criminal to justice; the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Department and Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries later adopted the system; and
WHEREAS, well-respected by his colleagues, Bruce Lemmert worked diligently throughout his career with a variety of organizations and individuals to encourage and facilitate a cooperative effort toward wildlife law enforcement; and
WHEREAS, Bruce Lemmert also worked with a general district court judge to make legislative recommendations resulting in the redirection of hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries Game Protection Fund; and
WHEREAS, Bruce Lemmert has received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career, including selection as the 1996 Virginia Game Warden of the Year and 1997 Wildlife Officer of the Year by the North American Wildlife Enforcement Officers Association and recipient of the 2002 Guy Bradley Award from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and the 2006 Law Enforcement Officers Association's Group Achievement Award; and
WHEREAS, Bruce Lemmert has demonstrated great creativity, dedication, and commitment during his long and successful career; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Bruce Lemmert for his dedicated service to the Commonwealth; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Bruce Lemmert as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect and admiration for his many accomplishments and best wishes in his future endeavors.
