2010 SESSION
WHEREAS, Roger Bradley, an admired and respected councilman for the Town of Glasgow, retired in 2009; and
WHEREAS, Roger Bradley grew up in Rockbridge County and after proudly serving in the United States Army, desired to continue to serve his fellow citizens; he began his longtime tenure as a councilman with the Town of Glasgow in 1972; and
WHEREAS, known for his gracious and friendly nature, Roger Bradley worked diligently with his fellow council members, citizens, and the Town Manager to ensure the efficient operation of local government and to provide the resources to meet the residents’ needs; and
WHEREAS, Roger Bradley also generously gave of his time and talents in the community as a member of the Glasgow Volunteer Fire Department from 1964 until 2003, charter member of the Glasgow Ruritan Club, and active member of Glasgow Baptist Church, where he currently serves as deacon and groundskeeper; and
WHEREAS, a retired mechanic from Reynolds Chevron, Roger Bradley continues to work part time for the Town of Glasgow and enjoys volunteering for the Glasgow–Natural Bridge Food Pantry and spending time fishing and woodworking; and
WHEREAS, Roger Bradley has been supported in all his community service efforts by his devoted wife of 42 years, Carolyn, and their three children, Wesley, Michael, and Teri; and
WHEREAS, Roger Bradley has dedicated the past 37 years to the betterment of his community and leaves behind a remarkable legacy of service to his fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend a dedicated public servant and outstanding Virginian, Roger Lee Bradley; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Roger Lee Bradley as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his service to the Town of Glasgow.
