10105718DWHEREAS, George Wesley Moshenek of Ringgold, a respected citizen and community volunteer, died on December 18, 2009; and
WHEREAS, a native of Ringgold, Wesley Moshenek was born on November 29, 1926, to loving parents Elisha Howard Moshenek and Beulah Ethel Clements Moshenek and was one of three brothers; and
WHEREAS, after his schooling in Pittsylvania County public schools, Wesley Moshenek proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient; and
WHEREAS, after his return from the war, Wesley Moshenek married the love of his life, the late Bobbye Anne Wilkinson, with whom he enjoyed more than 50 years of marriage; and
WHEREAS, a hard-working businessman, Wesley Moshenek worked as a buyer for the Virginia Tobacco Company and later Dibrell Tobacco Company; he was also a licensed funeral director for more than 50 years; and
WHEREAS, Wesley Moshenek generously gave of his time and talents in the community through his involvement in local politics and as a charter member of the Ringgold Volunteer Fire Department, past president of the Ringgold Jaycees, and member of the Morotock Masonic Lodge No. 210 and Ringgold Baptist Church; and
WHEREAS, an Eagle Scout and Scoutmaster, Wesley Moshenek devoted countless hours to helping the young men of Ringgold grow and develop through his involvement with the Boy Scouts of America; and
WHEREAS, Wesley Moshenek leaves behind a rich legacy of devotion to his family, community, and country and will be greatly missed by his two daughters, Anne and Beth; his grandchildren, Kacey, Kimberly, Megan, and Nicholas; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly note with great sadness the loss of a dedicated community volunteer and outstanding Virginian, George Wesley Moshenek; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of George Wesley Moshenek as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
