2010 SESSION
WHEREAS, the Virginia Spine Institute was honored by the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce and Reston Interfaith, Inc., with a prestigious 2010 Best of Reston Award; and
WHEREAS, the Best of Reston Awards were established to recognize individuals, businesses, and organizations that have demonstrated a strong commitment to serving the Reston community and improving the lives of others; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Spine Institute (VSI) provides the most progressive, innovative, and successful spinal health care in the nation; and
WHEREAS, committed to treating every patient with dignity and respect, VSI has cared for over 40,000 people with a nearly 100% success rate and has worked with the Reston Hospital Center to discover breakthrough technologies to improve spinal health care; and
WHEREAS, partnering with Reston Interfaith, Inc., and the Spinal Research Foundation, VSI staff members participate in many events sponsored by area civic organizations, including the Reston YMCA, the Reston Triathlon, Adopt-a-Highway, and the American Red Cross; and
WHEREAS, VSI staff members donated over $100,000 and 2,000 hours of volunteer time to both local and national organizations in 2009; and
WHEREAS, VSI encourages employee giving through its Employee Volunteer Program and care of the environment through the education of employees about recycling, waste reduction, timers on lights to eliminate energy loss, and use of eco-friendly products; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Spine Institute partners with Reston area communities to make them a better place to live, work, and enjoy, and VSI employees strive to fulfill their motto of “Caring—for each other and ourselves” every day; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate the Virginia Spine Institute on its outstanding service to the residents of Northern Virginia and on its well-deserved honor as a 2010 Best of Reston Award recipient; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Virginia Spine Institute as an expression of the General Assembly’s appreciation of the organization’s many achievements on behalf of Reston area communities and best wishes for continued success.
