Commending Jack Taylor.

WHEREAS, Jack Taylor, of Alexandria Toyota in Alexandria, is the 2010 Time Magazine Quality Automobile Dealer of the Year nominee for Virginia; and

WHEREAS, Jack Taylor’s career in the auto industry has spanned over 35 years and has culminated in his becoming the owner of Alexandria Toyota in Alexandria; and

WHEREAS, an active and dedicated member of his community, Jack Taylor has served on a wide array of local boards, commissions, and committees for many years; and

WHEREAS, Jack Taylor served his country in the United States Army and, while serving in the Republic of Vietnam, was awarded a Bronze Star; and

WHEREAS, Jack Taylor has been a leader in his community, including as a longtime supporter of the Scholarship Fund of Alexandria and Capital Hospice, which bestowed on him the “Passion for Caring Award” in recognition of his efforts that raised over $2 million; and

WHEREAS, a steadfast member of his local business community, Jack Taylor has been a longtime member of the Del Ray Business Association and the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, which awarded him the Business Leader of the Year Award for his commitment to serving the community and in recognition of his business success and leadership; and

WHEREAS, an active and dedicated member of his industry, Jack Taylor has served his customers and his community with a generous spirit and has been an example to dealers in his area and around the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, Jack Taylor has earned the Toyota Motor Sales President’s Award every year since its inception in 1986 and has been recognized with the Circle of Excellence Award, the Toyota Financial Services Platinum Award, and the Toyota Service Excellence Award; and

WHEREAS, Jack Taylor has served on the Toyota National Dealer Council and was the first Chairman of the Lexus National Dealer Council; and

WHEREAS, Jack Taylor has served his industry as an active member of the Virginia Automobile Dealers Association; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Jack Taylor on his selection as the 2010 Time Magazine Quality Automobile Dealer of the Year nominee for Virginia; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jack Taylor as an expression of the General Assembly’s congratulations and best wishes.
