2010 SESSION
WHEREAS, Farooq Akbar is a respected and trusted physician who has provided quality obstetrical/gynecological care to his patients in Leesburg and Sterling for over 30 years; and
WHEREAS, Farooq Akbar graduated from King Edward Medical College (now University) in Lahore, Pakistan, before moving to the United States; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Akbar completed his residency in obstetrics/gynecology at Margaret Hague Maternity Hospital in New Jersey after his internship at East Orange General Hospital in New Jersey; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Akbar moved to the Washington, D.C., area in 1975 and became a proud United States citizen in 1976; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Akbar then worked and taught at George Washington University Hospital before establishing his own obstetrics and gynecology practice in 1978; and
WHEREAS, a skilled practitioner and outstanding administrator, Dr. Akbar, who is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, sees patients in both Sterling and Leesburg and is affiliated with Inova Loudoun Hospital and Reston Hospital Center; and
WHEREAS, throughout his career, Dr. Akbar has worked diligently to bring the latest medical advances to his patients in order to provide the best quality of care available; and
WHEREAS, throughout his exemplary career, Dr. Akbar has been involved with many professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, Loudoun County Medical Society, and the Medical Society of Virginia; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Akbar’s wife, Naz Akbar, and daughters, Sara, Farrah, and Alysha, have provided great support and encouragement throughout his long and successful career as a physician; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Dr. Farooq Akbar for his many years of outstanding service as an obstetrician/gynecologist in the Northern Virginia area; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Dr. Farooq Akbar as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for his many accomplishments.
