Commending Vector Industries, Inc., on the occasion of its 40th anniversary.

WHEREAS, in 2009 Vector Industries, Inc., of Waynesboro celebrated its 40th anniversary of enabling people with diverse disabilities to work, earn a living, and live happy and productive lives; and

WHEREAS, Vector Industries, Inc., was established in 1969, when a group of concerned parents of persons with disabilities decided that services were needed to help provide gainful employment in the community for people with physical and intellectual challenges; and

WHEREAS, a nonprofit company, Vector Industries, Inc., serves the residents of Augusta County, Staunton, Waynesboro, and surrounding areas; and

WHEREAS, Vector Industries, Inc., and its staff are dedicated to their mission to provide persons with disabilities job training, employment services, and remunerative work with commensurate wages and benefits in an environment integrated with non-disabled persons; and

WHEREAS, Vector Industries, Inc., employees have excellent training and diverse skills in packaging, assembly, quality inspection, prototype testing, shredding, engraving, and industrial and other services; and

WHEREAS, Vector Industries, Inc., promotes safety in the workplace, quality products and customer service, and cost responsibility, as well as the importance of each employee’s sense of dignity and self-worth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate Vector Industries, Inc., and its employees on their many accomplishments and contributions to their communities on the occasion of the organization’s 40th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Vector Industries, Inc., as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude to the nonprofit for its longtime commitment to people with disabilities in the Commonwealth.
