Commending the Honorable Kenneth Wilson Nye.

WHEREAS, the Honorable Kenneth Wilson Nye has served the 6th Judicial District with great distinction, integrity, and fairness since 1989; and

WHEREAS, a native of Hopewell, Kenneth Nye was born to loving parents Wade Wellington Nye and Evelyn Rivenbark Nye on October 22, 1939; and

WHEREAS, Kenneth Nye attended Hopewell Public Schools and received a bachelor’s degree from Randolph-Macon College and a law degree from the University of Richmond School of Law; and

WHEREAS, a dedicated attorney, Kenneth Nye began his career with the City of Hopewell; he was appointed a substitute judge for the 6th Judicial District in 1981, Special Justice in 1982, and Assistant Commissioner of Accounts in 1986; and

WHEREAS, in 1989 Judge Nye was appointed by the Virginia General Assembly as General District Court Judge for the 6th Judicial District; and

WHEREAS, as General District Court Judge, Judge Nye has heard a variety of cases over the past two decades and is known for his thoughtfulness, fairness, and commitment to equal justice for all; and

WHEREAS, Judge Nye served as the past president of the Hopewell Bar Association and past chairman of the Fourth District Electoral Committee, where he was respected and admired for his leadership; and

WHEREAS, Judge Nye has generously given of his time and talents in the community as president of the Hopewell Jaycees, chairman of the Hopewell United Way Fund, and chairman of the local American Red Cross; and

WHEREAS, Judge Nye has been supported in all his endeavors by his loving family, including his wife, Josephine Kendricks Nye, and their children, Ann Marie Nye and K. Wade Nye; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend the Honorable Kenneth Wilson Nye for his dedication to Virginia’s judicial system, his profession, and the citizens of the Commonwealth; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Honorable Kenneth Wilson Nye as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for his wisdom and fairness in administering justice in Virginia.
