2010 SESSION
10100718DWHEREAS, the Warhill High School football team defeated New Kent High School (14 - 10) at James City County Stadium to win its first home game in school history and its first win against a Bay Rivers District opponent; and
WHEREAS, Warhill High School opened in the fall of 2007 and competes in the AA Bay Rivers District in Region I; and
WHEREAS, the first touchdown of the game came after senior Kenaan Canady scored from one yard out to complete a 52-yard drive; Ryan Ristaino scored the extra point to tie the game at the end of the first quarter; and
WHEREAS, quarterback Randall Reed scored the second touchdown of the game, running 30 yards with only two minutes and 40 seconds left in the game; and
WHEREAS, the Lions’ strong defense kept New Kent from scoring in the final minutes of the game, giving the Warhill High School team and fans an exciting victory; and
WHEREAS, with the support of the parents, faculty, and staff of Warhill High School, football team members have worked diligently since their team’s inception to hone their skills under the leadership of Head Coach Billy Jarvis; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Lions from Warhill High School on their outstanding game; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Head Coach Billy Jarvis as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the 2009 Warhill High School football team.
