2010 SESSION
WHEREAS, Fan Free Clinic of Richmond is celebrating its 40th anniversary of outstanding service to people in need in Richmond and central Virginia; and
WHEREAS, Fan Free Clinic was incorporated in 1970 and was the first free clinic established in the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Fan Free Clinic has been responsive to the evolving needs of the community and today is the primary health care provider for thousands of men, women, and children in central Virginia; and
WHEREAS, Fan Free Clinic was among the earliest responders to the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s and 1990s and to this day holds a leadership position among HIV/AIDS service organizations; and
WHEREAS, Fan Free Clinic was a founding member of the Virginia Association of Free Clinics (VAFC), a statewide organization, and it became one of the first free clinics in Virginia to be accredited by VAFC; and
WHEREAS, Fan Free Clinic volunteers include physicians, nurse practitioners, mental health and social service professionals, as well as students, retirees, and other members of the community; and
WHEREAS, Fan Free Clinic serves more than 12,000 individuals annually through its excellent medical, health education, social services, and advocacy programs; and
WHEREAS, Fan Free Clinic has a long history of partnering with other community organizations to ensure continuity of healthcare and other vital services for the community’s most vulnerable members; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate Fan Free Clinic and its dedicated staff and volunteers on the occasion of its 40th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Fan Free Clinic as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude to the organization for its dedication to the health and well-being of people in need in the Commonwealth.
