Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  § 1. Opening of the school year in the City of Roanoke.

Notwithstanding the provisions of § 22.1-79.1 of the Code of Virginia, the School Board of the City of Roanoke may set the school calendar for the City of Roanoke school division so that the first day students are required to attend school shall be no earlier than two weeks prior to Labor Day.
