10104790DBe it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Article 3 of Chapter 15 of Title 15.2 a section numbered 15.2-1521.1 as follows:
§ 15.2-1521.1. Civil immunity for officers, employees, and volunteers of local government; notarial acts.
Any officer, employee, or volunteer of a local government who is a commissioned notary public, as defined in § 47.1-2, and is required to perform notarial acts for actions of the locality, without compensation, as a condition of his service with a local government, shall not be liable for civil damages for acts or omissions on his part resulting from the performance of such notarial acts provided that such acts do not constitute gross negligence or willful misconduct.
