2010 SESSION
10103311DBe it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That § 23-9.2:3.7 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:
§ 23-9.2:3.7. Course credit and admission status; active duty military students.
The governing boards of each public institution of higher
education shall implement policies that provide students called to active
military duty during an academic semester with the opportunity (i) to return to the
institution upon completion of the active duty military assignment, without
having to reapply for readmission, and
(ii) to earn full course credit. Such policies shall
include, as one option,
that such students who have completed 75 percent of the course requirements at
the time of activation and who meet other specified requirements receive full
course credit and that such
students may defer acceptance to any
of the institution's graduate programs until completion of
the active duty military assignment.
