Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  That §§ 30-157, 30-168.4, 30-176, and 30-262 of the Code of Virginia are amended and reenacted as follows:

§ 30-157. Staff for the Commission.

The Commission may appoint and employ and, at pleasure remove, an executive director, counsel, and such other persons as it deems necessary; and to determine their duties and fix their salaries or compensation within the amounts appropriated therefor Staff support shall be provided by the Division of Legislative Services. The Office of the Clerk of the chairman of the Commission shall provide the administrative staff support.

§ 30-168.4. (Expires July 1, 2012) Staffing.

The Commission may appoint, employ, and remove an executive director and such other persons as it deems necessary, and determine their duties and fix their salaries or compensation within the amounts appropriated therefor. The Commission may also employ experts who have special knowledge of the issues before it Staff support shall be provided by the Division of Legislative Services. The Office of the Clerk of the chairman of the Commission shall provide the administrative staff support. All agencies of the Commonwealth shall provide assistance to the Commission, upon request.

§ 30-176. Staff.

The Commission may appoint and employ and, at its pleasure, remove an executive director and such other persons as it deems necessary to assist it in carrying out its duties as set forth in this chapter. The Commission may determine the duties of such staff and fix their salaries or compensation within the amounts appropriated therefor Staff support shall be provided by the Division of Legislative Services. The Office of the Clerk of the chairman of the Commission shall provide the administrative staff support.

§ 30-262. Staffing.

The Commission may appoint and employ and, at its pleasure, remove an executive director and such other persons as it deems necessary to assist it in carrying out its duties as set forth in this chapter. The Commission may determine the duties of such staff and fix their salaries or compensation within the amounts as may be appropriated from general or nongeneral funds. Nongeneral funds may include, but not be limited to, federal grants and private donations or contributions Staff support shall be provided by the Division of Legislative Services. The Office of the Clerk of the chairman of the Commission shall provide the administrative staff support. All other agencies and governing bodies and agencies of political subdivisions of the Commonwealth shall provide assistance to the Commission, upon request.
