CHAPTER 733 An Act to amend the Code of Virginia by adding in Article 15 of Chapter 1 of Title 33.1, a section numbered 33.1-223.2:23, relating to annual report of actions taken to increase transit use, etc. [S 553] Approved April 13, 2010

 

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Article 15 of Chapter 1 of Title 33.1 a section numbered 33.1-223.2:23 as follows:

§ 33.1-223.2:23. Secretary to submit annual report on actions taken to increase transit use, etc.

The Secretary of Transportation, in consultation and cooperation with the Commonwealth Transportation Commissioner and the Director of the Department of Rail and Public Transportation shall annually, not later than November 1, submit to the General Assembly a report on actions taken by the Commonwealth, local governments, and regional transportation authorities to (i) increase transit use and (ii) reduce highway congestion and use of single occupant vehicles through programs and initiatives involving transportation demand management, transit use, telecommuting, carpooling, construction of commuter parking facilities, use of flexible work hours, and telecommunications technology.
