SB 1218 Juveniles; transmission of probation and parole reports to school superintendent.

SUMMARY AS PASSED SENATE:

Release from juvenile correctional center; transmission to school superintendent.  Allows the Director of the Department of Juvenile Justice to notify the appropriate school division superintendent when a juvenile who poses a credible danger of serious bodily injury or death to students, school personnel or others on school property is released from a juvenile correctional center.

SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Juvenile probation and parole reports; transmission to school superintendent.  Requires juvenile probation officers to transmit probation and parole reports, including intake, social history and sentencing reports, to school superintendents for crimes for which they must notify the school division if there is a petition filed under existing law. The school superintendent may further disclose the information to principals who may also disclose for safety or educational reasons.
