SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Constitutional amendment (first resolution); due process of law; obligation of contracts; taking of private property; prohibited discrimination; jury trial in civil cases. Defines the term "public uses" and specifies permitted public uses for which private property may be taken. The definition is the same definition enacted in 2007 and set out in § 1-219.1 of the Code of Virginia. This resolution was incorporated into HJ 725.
