SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:
Standard of conduct for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, and General Assembly members; prohibitions on gifts; limits on campaign contributions. Prohibits the acceptance of gifts by the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, and General Assembly members with limited exceptions for gifts from relatives and awards from private sector employers. The bill also imposes limits on contributions to candidates for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, and the General Assembly. The limit on contributions by any person or political committee to a statewide office candidate is $2,500 per election cycle and to a General Assembly candidate is $1,000 per election cycle. There are no limits on contributions by a candidate to his own campaign. Civil penalties for violations of the limits may equal up to two times the excess contribution amounts.
