SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE: (all summaries)
Governor; suspension of mandates. Provides that, notwithstanding the Governor's authority to temporarily suspend state mandated, school divisions shall not be required to meet mandated staffing ratio requirements for the programs funded by the Lottery Proceeds Fund for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2010. The bill also provides that state funds for such programs must be used for the stated program purposes. In addition, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2010, school divisions will not be required to provide matching funds for the programs funded through (i) the Lottery Proceeds Fund, (ii) the Virginia Public School Authority, or (iii) to purchase textbooks. The provisions of the bill will expire on July 1, 2010.
