SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

State agency procurement; prohibit companies that have certain business operations in Sudan from bidding on contracts with state agencies. Provides that companies meeting certain criteria determined to be related to the genocide in the Darfur region of Sudan are ineligible to bid upon or submit proposals for goods, services, or construction to state public bodies. The bill also authorizes the Director of the Department of General Services to provide exemptions from ineligibility requirements if it is in the best interest of the Commonwealth. In addition, the bill requires all companies to provide a certification regarding their eligibility status and provides civil penalties in the event a false certification is submitted.
