SUMMARY AS PASSED HOUSE:

Housing authorities; referendum.  Increases the number of qualified voters in a locality needed to have a referendum creating a housing authority from at least 100 voters to at least two percent of the qualified voters. The bill also provides that once a referendum has been held, no other referendum on the same question shall be held in the county, city, or town within five years of the date of the prior referendum.

SUMMARY AS INTRODUCED:

Housing authorities; referendum.  Increases the number of qualified voters in a locality needed to have a referendum creating a housing authority from at least 100 voters to at least 10 percent of the qualified voters. The bill also provides that once a referendum has been held, no other referendum on the same question shall be held in the county, city, or town within five years of the date of the prior referendum.
