099199326WHEREAS, James Arnold Jones, a respected spiritual and business leader from Daleville, died on November 26, 2008; and
WHEREAS, a native of West Virginia, Arnold Jones was born to loving parents the Reverend Jimmie Jones and Audrey Palmer Jones and was one of three siblings; and
WHEREAS, industrious and entrepreneurial, Arnold Jones was the president and chief executive officer of Williams Supply, Inc., an electrical products and services supplier company; and
WHEREAS, Arnold Jones worked diligently to provide his customers with the products they needed with high quality service; and
WHEREAS, a committed Christian, Arnold Jones lived his faith through his actions and as a member of First Baptist Church Roanoke since 1993; he served in various capacities including fellowship of deacons, vice-chair and chairman of the stewardship committee, and chairman of the personnel committee; and
WHEREAS, known for his administrative ability, Arnold Jones was part of the leadership for the May 2–4, 2003, Franklin Graham Festival in Salem, Virginia, which featured nightly challenges from Franklin Graham, award-winning musicians, and special guests; and
WHEREAS, the event required hours of dedicated work and planning to bring together 55 denominations and 53,100 people; and
WHEREAS, a dedicated father and husband, Arnold Jones will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his loving wife of 39 years, Margaret Ann; their children Janet, Todd, and Suzanne and their families; and numerous other relatives and many friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the passing of a respected business and spiritual leader, James Arnold Jones; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of James Arnold Jones as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
