099200326WHEREAS, Henry D. Gregory III of Roanoke, a respected citizen and community volunteer, died on December 22, 2008; and
WHEREAS, a native of Colorado, Henry (Hank) D. Gregory III was born to loving parents Henry Gregory, Jr., and Marion Hawkins Gregory on April 3, 1921; and
WHEREAS, Hank Gregory received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado in 1942 and married the late Lorraine Bixby the same year; and
WHEREAS, moving across the country, Hank Gregory began his 42-year career with General Electric in Schenectady, New York; and
WHEREAS, a hardworking and valued employee, Hank Gregory moved to Roanoke with General Electric in 1956 and diligently worked there until his retirement in 1984; and
WHEREAS, mindful of the needs of the community, Hank Gregory was active in the community as a leader and supporter of First Presbyterian Church, a member of the GE Elfun Society, and a volunteer with Meals on Wheels; and
WHEREAS, a strong advocate of the Republican Party, Hank Gregory was elected to serve several terms as treasurer of the Roanoke County Republican Party; and
WHEREAS, a humble and gracious man, Hank Gregory generously gave his time and talents and treasure to support his church and other agencies; and
WHEREAS, Hank Gregory will be remembered for his kind and generous nature and sorely missed by his loving wife, Imogene Dean; his children Henry, Lorinda, and Scott and their families; stepchildren Nancy, Lawrence, and Mary Beth and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the passing of a respected citizen and community volunteer, Henry D. Gregory III; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Henry D. Gregory III as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
