099165333WHEREAS, Frank McCarty of Stafford County, a local businessman and community supporter, is recognized for his outstanding service to his community as the longtime host of the Annual White Oak Equipment Oyster Roast; and
WHEREAS, Frank McCarty started his business, White Oak Equipment, along with two partners in 1970, and today the company operates four branches in Stafford, Manassas Park, Glen Allen, and Chesapeake, serving customers in Virginia and North Carolina; the company grew from a small farm-equipment dealership to a large firm specializing in construction equipment; and
WHEREAS, always concerned with the well-being of his employees and their families, Frank McCarty first decided to host an oyster roast 25 years ago as a benefit to help one of his sales staff who needed help paying for cancer treatments; and
WHEREAS, Frank McCarty’s fundraiser was such a tremendous success that he started the Annual White Oak Equipment Oyster Roast, and each year a worthy recipient is chosen to benefit from the proceeds of the popular event; and
WHEREAS, Frank McCarty and his company, along with other generous and enthusiastic sponsors, cover all costs of the oyster roast so that all proceeds can go straight to the year’s chosen beneficiary; and
WHEREAS, in 2009, the 25th Annual Oyster Roast will be sponsored by White Oak Equipment and Friendship Baptist Church to help pay the medical bills of Matthew Rose, a 3-year-old Caroline County boy who has been diagnosed with nephroblastoma, or pediatric cancer of the kidney; and
WHEREAS, a compassionate and warmhearted man, Frank McCarty has inspired employees, friends, church members, and countless volunteers over the years to work at the oyster roast and help to make it a continued success; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend Frank McCarty on his 25 years of outstanding service to his community and his fellow citizens; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Frank McCarty as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude for his generosity and his commitment to helping others.
