099144220WHEREAS, James Berry Mohler of Mount Solon, a respected citizen and outstanding community leader and supporter, died on September 2, 2008; and
WHEREAS, James “Jim” Mohler was born on May 12, 1950, in Harrisonburg, the son of John Andrew and Rachel Crosby Berry Mohler; and
WHEREAS, Jim Mohler was a fifth-generation farmer, who graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in 1972 with a bachelor of science degree in agricultural economics; and
WHEREAS, Jim Mohler served on the board of visitors at Virginia Tech and was a member of its prestigious William Preston Society; and
WHEREAS, over the years, Jim Mohler gave his time and expertise to many civic organizations, serving as a board member of the Virginia Board of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Augusta Petroleum Corporation, Augusta Farm Bureau, and North River Telephone Cooperative and as a member of the North River Ruritan Club, receiving its Citizen of the Year award in 1990; and
WHEREAS, Jim Mohler was a faithful member of the Spring Hill Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and trustee and as the church’s Sunday School superintendent for 38 years; and
WHEREAS, Jim Mohler will be fondly remembered for his kind and generous nature and greatly missed by his wife, Alicia Drummond Mohler, whom he married in 1970; his two daughters, Meredith Mohler Seal and Lindsay Mohler Stuth, and their spouses; his grandson and a host of other loving family members; and his good friends in Mount Solon; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the passing of an outstanding Virginian, James Berry Mohler; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of James Berry Mohler as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
