099059320WHEREAS, Sandra Moss of Dillwyn is commended for receiving the Barbara Cox Anthony Automotive Woman of the Year Award from Manheim Company; and
WHEREAS, the award recognizes the increasing role that women have in the automotive industry and identifies women who make noteworthy contributions to the growth of the automobile community, have a proven knowledge of the automobile industry, and support women in business; and
WHEREAS, a hard-working and entrepreneurial woman, Sandra Moss has been in the automotive industry for 25 years; and
WHEREAS, a savvy businesswoman, Sandra Moss formed the Moss Motor Company, Inc., with her husband Bill and son William in 1984 and formed M & M Auto Rental, Inc., in July 1988; and
WHEREAS, Sandra Moss joined the Virginia Independent Automobile Dealer’s Association (VIADA) in 1984, serving as the 1997–1998 president; and
WHEREAS, Sandra Moss has also been involved in the National Independent Automobile Dealers Association, where she has faithfully served as treasurer, Region I vice president, and the second female president; she currently serves as chairwoman of the board of the 20,000 member organization; and
WHEREAS, Sandra Moss has received many awards over her long and successful career, including two VIADA Quality Dealer Awards; and
WHEREAS, actively involved in the community, Sandra Moss established the local Chamber of Commerce, serves as vice-chair of the Fuqua School board of directors, and raises funds for the local fire and rescue squads; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly commend Sandra Moss on receiving the prestigious Barbara Cox Anthony Automotive Woman of the Year Award; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Sandra Moss as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for her many accomplishments and devotion to her profession.
