SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 381
Commending the White Rock Baptist Church on the occasion of its 120th anniversary.

WHEREAS, the White Rock Baptist Church of Lynchburg and its devoted congregation will celebrate its 120th year of serving the Lord and community this year; and

WHEREAS, originally named the White Rock Baptist Chapel, the church was established in 1889 by the Court Street Baptist Church and has honorably served as a place for the community to grow closer together in faith; and

WHEREAS, prior to the creation of the White Rock Baptist Church, a rapidly expanding Sunday School organized by the Lynchburg Sunday School Union laid the foundation and generated membership for establishing a new church; and

WHEREAS, under the leadership of many great pastors, the White Rock Baptist Church has endured through many triumphs and trials, including rebuilding a new church after the old church was condemned and ordered to be torn down by the city; and

WHEREAS, throughout its long history, White Rock Baptist Church has provided its devoted congregation, its neighbors, and the community a place to worship, to help others, and to grow in faith and service; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the White Rock Baptist Church on the occasion of its 120th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the White Rock Baptist Church of Lynchburg as an expression of the General Assembly’s best wishes for a joyful celebration and future success in the church’s ministry.
