SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 364 Offered January 14, 2009 Commending the Midlothian High School girls’ cross country team. ---------- Patron-- Watkins ----------

WHEREAS, the 2008 Midlothian High School girls’ cross country team won the Virginia High School League Group AAA state championship title on November 8, 2008, at Great Meadow Park; and

WHEREAS, this was the fourth consecutive state championship win for the exceptional Midlothian team and only the second team in state history to achieve this accomplishment; and

WHEREAS, through tough competition from other teams and fellow teammates, the Midlothian High School girls’ cross country team prevailed and had three runners finish in the top 15; and

WHEREAS, the entire team trained hard and each runner made significant contributions throughout the season; and

WHEREAS, the triumphant performance of the 2008 Trojans is a tribute to the talent, commitment, and determination of the players; the leadership of Head Coach Stan Morgan and his staff; and the support of the students and faculty of Midlothian High School; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate the 2008 Trojans from Midlothian High School as the Virginia High School League Group AAA state champions; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Head Coach Morgan as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for the outstanding 2008 season of the Midlothian High School girls’ cross country team.
