Celebrating the life of E.C. Warren II.

WHEREAS, E.C. Warren II of Roanoke, a long-time business owner and community leader, died on August 10, 2008; and

WHEREAS, E.C. Warren was born to E. Crafton and Florence (Flip) Warren and attended Patrick Henry High School and the National Business College; and

WHEREAS, following in his father’s footsteps, E.C. Warren took over ownership of The Roanoker Restaurant in 1982 after his father passed away; he retired in 2005, but continued to visit and help out at the restaurant on a regular basis; and

WHEREAS, an astute businessman, E.C. Warren was also known as a warm and generous community supporter; and

WHEREAS, E.C. Warren served as president of the Virginia Restaurant Association and was named as the 1988 Virginia Restaurateur of the Year by the association; he also served as a member of the advisory committee in hotel/restaurant management at Virginia Tech; and

WHEREAS, E.C. Warren was actively involved in several organizations in the Roanoke area, including the Roanoke Chamber of Commerce, the Roanoke Small Business Council executive dialogue program, the Cave Spring Rescue Squad, and the Roanoke Moose Lodge No. 284; and

WHEREAS, E.C. Warren also influenced future generations through his mentoring of hundreds of Boy Scouts over the years; he was honored with the Founder’s Award and the Silver Beaver Award for his service; and

WHEREAS, E.C. Warren supported and sponsored Little League baseball for over 40 years; and

WHEREAS, E.C. Warren will be fondly remembered for his kind and generous nature and greatly missed by his long-time companion, Robin Poteet; his son Eric and his family; and his many customers and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly mourn the passing of a fine businessman and community leader, E.C. Warren II; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of E.C. Warren II as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for his memory.
