SENATE BILL NO. 1240 Senate Amendments in [ ] – February 10, 2009 A BILL to amend and reenact § 23-38.10:11 of the Code of Virginia, relating to the Two-Year College Transfer Grant. ---------- Patrons Prior to Engrossment—Senators Stosch, Blevins, Edwards, Martin, Newman, Norment, Stuart, Wampler, Watkins and Whipple; Delegates: Ingram, Nixon and O’Bannon ---------- Referred to Committee on Education and Health ----------

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1.  That § 23-38.10:11 of the Code of Virginia is amended and reenacted as follows:

§ 23-38.10:11. Amount of award.

The amount of the grant for an eligible student shall be provided in accordance with the appropriation act and shall  [  be fixed at  not exceed  ]  $1,000$1,500 per year. An additional  [  grant not to exceed  ]  $1,000 per year shall be provided to those students pursuing undergraduate collegiate work in engineering, mathematics, nursing, teaching, or science.

 [  2.  That the provisions of this act shall not become effective unless an appropriation effectuating the purposes of this act is included in a general appropriation act passed by the 2009 Regular Session of the General Assembly, which becomes law.  ]
