WHEREAS, Colonel Tim Golden is commended for his outstanding service to Lexington as a longtime member of the City Council; and

WHEREAS, Colonel Tim Golden first began his distinguished service on the Lexington City Council in 1990 and served faithfully until 1998; he then served again from 2000 until 2008; and

WHEREAS, committed to improving the quality of life of his fellow citizens, Colonel Tim Golden worked diligently as a city council member to make sure the local government ran efficiently and that the needs of the residents were met; and

WHEREAS, recognized for his leadership and administrative ability, Colonel Tim Golden served as vice mayor of Lexington and as the Lexington representative to the Rockbridge Partnership, which provides economic development services to the City of Lexington and Rockbridge County; and

WHEREAS, Colonel Tim Golden, interested in the future development of Lexington, represented Lexington City Council on the Planning Commission, which works on matters related to land use planning and development; and

WHEREAS, Colonel Tim Golden currently serves on the 2009 board of directors for the Lexington-Rockbridge Chamber of Commerce, where he works diligently to help local businesses receive the resources they need to succeed; and

WHEREAS, a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) with a master’s degree from Lynchburg College, Colonel Tim Golden has served as the Director of Financial Aid at VMI since 1987; and

WHEREAS, a hard-working and involved citizen, Colonel Tim Golden selflessly gave of his time and talents for over 16 years as a member of the Lexington City Council; and

WHEREAS, with his generous heart and commitment to the City of Lexington, Colonel Tim Golden provides an example for other citizens to follow; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Colonel Tim Golden be commended for his service to the Lexington City Council; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Colonel Tim Golden as an expression of the House of Delegates’ respect for his public service and best wishes in his future endeavors.
