HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 65
Commending the First National Bank of Altavista.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 28, 2009

 

WHEREAS, the First National Bank of Altavista is commended on the occasion of its 100th anniversary of outstanding service to its customers; and

WHEREAS, the First National Bank of Altavista was established in 1908 to provide community banking services to the citizens of the Town of Altavista; and

WHEREAS, the First National Bank of Altavista has been headquartered at the same location at the corner of Broad Street and Seventh Street since the opening of the bank in 1908; and

WHEREAS, over the past 100 years, the First National Bank of Altavista has grown from a single office to a regional, progressive financial institution serving Central Virginia; and

WHEREAS, the First National Bank of Altavista serves all or portions of the Counties of Campbell, Pittsylvania, Franklin, Bedford, Amherst, and the City of Lynchburg; and

WHEREAS, the First National Bank of Altavista provides a full array of financial products and services, including commercial, mortgage, and consumer banking and insurance and investment services; and

WHEREAS, the First National Bank of Altavista has 120 employees in nine office locations and $322,052,000 in assets; and

WHEREAS, the First National Bank of Altavista maintains its commitment to building relationships through quality financial products with exceptional customer service; and

WHEREAS, the First National Bank of Altavista has been actively involved in the Central Virginia community during the past century, helping charitable and civic organizations; and

WHEREAS, the First National Bank of Altavista’s longtime president and chief executive officer, Robert H. Gilliam, Jr., has not only served his community, but also his industry as a past president of the Virginia Bankers Association and current board member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the First National Bank of Altavista hereby be commended on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the First National Bank of Altavista as an expression of the House of Delegates’ respect for the Bank’s longevity and commitment to its customers.
