HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 64
Celebrating the life of Kristin Safran.

 

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 28, 2009

 

WHEREAS, Kristin Safran, a loving wife and mother, business owner, and member of the board of directors of the International Bottled Water Association in Alexandria, died on February 12, 2009; and

WHEREAS, a hard-working student, Kristin Safran received a bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University and completed graduate work there and also at Cleveland State University; and

WHEREAS, innovative and entrepreneurial, Kristin Safran worked as a campaign manager and beverage market manager before starting her own business, ARK Specialty Services, which provides a full range of regulatory, technical, and information services to the bottled water and beverage industries; and

WHEREAS, Kristin Safran’s experience and expertise in the water industry led her to travel around the world, including to Iraq, where she helped set up a safe water supply for United States Armed Forces on four bases; she served on the board of directors of the International Bottled Water Association, where she chaired various committees and task forces; and

WHEREAS, a trusted consultant, Kristin Safran spoke at various water-related association convention meetings and published several articles on various bottled water topics; and

WHEREAS, a devoted wife and mother, Kristin Safran married Russ Safran and cherished the time she spent with him and their precious children; and

WHEREAS, Kristin Safran was known for her energy and ability to get things done and gave generously of her time and talents in the community, including as a volunteer at the Learning Center and leader for the county recycling advisory council; and

WHEREAS, Kristin Safran will be fondly remembered for her caring and compassionate nature and will be greatly missed by her young family including her loving husband, Russ; beloved children Alex and Sydney and stepdaughter Jessica; parents Gale and Cindi Saltzgiver; and other family members, friends, and business associates; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Kristin Safran; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Kristin Safran as an expression of the House of Delegates’ respect for her memory.
