Celebrating the life of Susan Frieda Kaczmarek Gregori.

WHEREAS, Susan Frieda Kaczmarek Gregori of Richmond, a beloved citizen and school librarian and media specialist, died on August 25, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Susan “Sue” Gregori was the daughter of the late Anna and Stanley Kaczmarek in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania; and

WHEREAS, Susan Gregori earned a bachelor’s degree from East Stroudsburg University in 1969 and a master’s of education degree from Longwood University in 1992; and

WHEREAS, Susan Gregori was the consummate educator, serving as a library assistant at Pattee Library at Pennsylvania State University; a private school English teacher in Berlin, West Germany; a librarian at Waynflete School in Portland, Maine; and library director at Our Lady of Lourdes School; and

WHEREAS, Susan Gregori’s life work and passion was at Saint Gertrude High School as the director of library media services for 23 years, where she developed the library and technology education programs, including the library website; and

WHEREAS, during her time at Saint Gertrude High School, Susan Gregori helped young women gain leadership experience and valuable governmental knowledge through the YMCA’s Model General Assembly and Model Judiciary programs; and in 1992 she received the YMCA Service-to-Youth Award, presented by the governor for her commitment to young people; and

WHEREAS, Susan Gregori was loyal, professional, enthusiastic, faith-filled, and well-respected by all the organizations to which she belonged, including the Virginia Education Media Association (VEMA) and the Virginia Society for Technology in Education (VSTE); and

WHEREAS, a dedicated mother and wife, Susan Gregori will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by her loving husband Harry Edward Gregori, Jr., with whom she shared a wonderful life for 39 years; her three devoted sons Christopher, Matthew, and Jonathan and his wife Annette; her granddaughter Allison; and many colleagues and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly note with great sadness the passing of a fine educator and outstanding Virginian, Susan Frieda Kaczmarek Gregori; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Susan Frieda Kaczmarek Gregori as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory, commitment to her profession, and support for her community.
