WHEREAS, Pamela D. Murray of Abingdon is commended for receiving the 2009 Woman Grocers of America Woman of the Year Award; and
WHEREAS, the Woman Grocers of America (WGA) Woman of the Year Award recognizes an industry woman whose leadership has contributed to the success of her company, who is a member of the National Grocers Association and other industry organizations, and who is a community-focused citizen; and
WHEREAS, dedicated and hard-working, Pamela D. Murray has been a valued employee of K-VA-T Food Stores Inc., the parent company of Food City, for 28 years; and
WHEREAS, respected by her fellow associates, Pamela Murray is known for her outstanding business ethics and high moral values and has helped create a sense of family throughout the entire staff; and
WHEREAS, Pamela Murray has actively participated in company-related community service events for various organizations, including the United Way, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, American Cancer Society, and American Diabetes Association; and
WHEREAS, Pamela Murray has given generously of her personal time assisting with the hospitality tent and suites for Food City’s four annual NASCAR races, helping organize the Virginia’s Best Bagger contest, and coordinating Food City’s annual associate fundraising projects to assist needy families during the holidays; and
WHEREAS, for almost three decades, Pamela Murray has been an exemplary employee of K-VA-T Food Stores Inc., contributing to a productive and harmonious workplace culture and being an excellent corporate representative in the community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend Pamela D. Murray for receiving the 2009 Woman Grocers of America Woman of the Year Award; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Pamela D. Murray as an expression of the General Assembly’s admiration for her commitment to her industry and service to her community.
