2009 SESSION
096894664WHEREAS, Tuckahoe Elementary School of the Henrico County Public Schools is recognized as a recipient of a 2009 Governor's Award for Educational Excellence; and
WHEREAS, Tuckahoe Elementary School is one of seven elementary schools out of a total of 47 elementary schools in Henrico County to achieve the Governor's award, which is the highest honor under the Virginia Index of Performance (VIP) incentive program created by the Virginia Board of Education; and
WHEREAS, Tuckahoe Elementary School, one of the oldest elementary schools in the western part of Henrico County, opened its doors to students in September 1947; and
WHEREAS, Tuckahoe Elementary School’s mission is to recognize and promote the uniqueness in each child and to promote a challenging atmosphere for learning through an integrated curriculum; and
WHEREAS, the dedicated educators and staff of Tuckahoe Elementary School are diligent in early identification of students' strengths and weaknesses in order to provide appropriate intervention and enrichment opportunities; and
WHEREAS, Tuckahoe Elementary School has maintained a 97 percent or higher student pass rate for all four core areas on Standards of Learning (SOL) assessments since Spring 2005; and
WHEREAS, Tuckahoe Elementary School benefits from the strong support of the Henrico County Public Schools and the members of the Henrico County School Board; and
WHEREAS, Tuckahoe Elementary School's academic success is due to the collaboration and partnerships of teachers, support personnel, parents, and the community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate Tuckahoe Elementary School as a recipient of a 2009 Governor's Award for Educational Excellence; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Tuckahoe Elementary School as an expression of the General Assembly’s gratitude to Tuckahoe Elementary School and its teachers, administrators, and staff for their dedication to the students of Henrico County and the Commonwealth.
