2009 SESSION
WHEREAS, the Raven Restaurant of Virginia Beach, a successful business and beach landmark, celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2008; and
WHEREAS, the owners, twin brothers Bobby and Ricky Dunnington, both served their country as members of the United States Navy Seabees MCB 133 during the Vietnam War; and
WHEREAS, when Bobby and Ricky Dunnington returned home after their military service, they decided to establish the Raven Restaurant in 1968 in the heart of the Virginia Beach resort area at Atlantic Avenue and 12th Street; and
WHEREAS, the innovative and industrious Dunnington brothers tapped into the beach scene and created a popular eating establishment and gathering place that has become a favorite of both tourists and local residents; and
WHEREAS, still owners and proprietors of the distinctive eatery after 40 years, Bobby and Ricky Dunnington are integral partners and supporters of their community, and the popular Raven Restaurant has played a significant role in the revitalization of Virginia Beach; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly commend and congratulate Bobby and Ricky Dunnington and the employees of the Raven Restaurant on the occasion of their 40th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Bobby and Ricky Dunnington, owners of the Raven Restaurant, as an expression of the General Assembly’s best wishes for continued success in the future.
