HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 786
Commending the Hoof Beats by the Beach 4-H Club of Accomack County.

WHEREAS, the Hoof Beats by the Beach 4-H Club of Accomack County was the winner of the state championship trophy in the drill team competition at the Virginia State 4-H Horse Show held in Lexington on September 18  - 21, 2008; and

WHEREAS, the talented Hoof Beats competed among 575 total riders that participated in the Virginia State 4-H Horse Show from around the state, and the team did an outstanding job of representing Accomack County throughout the competition; and

WHEREAS, 2008 was the second year Accomack County was represented by a drill team, and the Hoof Beats club was the only team representing the Southeast District in 2008; and

WHEREAS, winning the coveted first place award out of a field of 18 teams, the Hoof Beats members and their horses impressed the judges and an enthusiastic crowd of supporters with a brilliant performance; and

WHEREAS, the dedicated and hardworking 2008 Hoof Beats by the Beach drill team members are Kenneth Allen, Sara Miles, Brittany Kemp, Chris Reeder, Elizabeth Snyder, and Stephanie Fox; and

WHEREAS, Kendy Allen worked very hard coaching the Hoof Beats and Donnie and Lynn Matthews of Pony Pines Farm provided the team with a place to practice; and

WHEREAS, fellow 4-H members, including Kasey Toth and the team parents who accompanied the participants to Lexington, and club leaders Gary Fox, Marie Fox, and Karen Clark were valuable supporters of the Hoof Beats, as were all the generous Accomack area businesses and individuals that helped make the team's trip to the state championship possible; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate the Hoof Beats by the Beach 4-H Club of Accomack County as the drill team state champions; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Hoof Beats by the Beach 4-H Club of Accomack County as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's championship performance at the 2008 Virginia State 4-H Horse Show.
