Celebrating the life of Virginia Tubbs Caskie.

WHEREAS, Virginia Tubbs Caskie of Hampton, formerly of Urbanna, a respected citizen and avid community supporter and local leader, died on December 11, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Tubbs Caskie was born in North Carolina, the loving daughter of Robert L. and Ruth Williams; and

WHEREAS, dedicated to her work, Virginia Tubbs Caskie retired from the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company after a long and rewarding career; and

WHEREAS, Virginia Tubbs Caskie was committed to helping her fellow citizens, was knowledgeable regarding public issues, and was active in local and state political affairs; and

WHEREAS, while Virginia Tubbs Caskie lived in Urbanna, she served on the Planning Commission and was elected as one of the first women to serve on the Urbanna Town Council; and

WHEREAS, a great supporter of her community, Virginia Tubbs Caskie served as chair of the Urbanna Oyster Festival Committee for the Urbanna Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, a strong and vibrant woman, Virginia Tubbs Caskie will be fondly remembered for her sharp wit and keen mind and will be greatly missed by her devoted sons Lee Siler, Mark Tubbs, and Matthew Tubbs and their families, especially her granddaughters Meghan, Cassie, and Gracie, and her many other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly note with great sadness the passing of an outstanding Virginian and community leader, Virginia Tubbs Caskie; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Virginia Tubbs Caskie as an expression of the General Assembly’s respect for her memory.
